It is not uncommon for the child of a celebrity to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Will Reeve, the son of Christopher Reeve has done similar.
Although Will Reeve is not exactly following in Christopher Reeve’s footsteps, he is an ABC news correspondent so he is in the public eye. There is something else about him that many people don’t know until they see him.
Unfortunately, Will has been through his fair share of difficulties. His father, who was famous for playing Superman in the movies was paralyzed in 1995 and died in 2004. His mother died in 2006 from lung cancer.
Will was only a child when his parents died and now he is 31. He does what he can to keep their legacy alive, including being a board member of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. That foundation improves research and quality of life for those who are paralyzed.
He also finds it interesting that people look to him because he looks a lot like his father. Some people would feel uncomfortable about this but he loves it, because he thinks that it means they are remembering his parents.

He spoke about it and a benefit for the foundation, saying that he “always takes [it] as a compliment” when he hears that he looks like his father.
He went on to say: “I think that I had two beautiful parents, inside and out, and if I bear any resemblance to them physically, or temperamentally, or in my values, then I take that as a compliment every day.”
He regularly speaks highly of both of his parents, and had the following to say: “I think his legacy is never going to go away and think that is a responsibility that I feel, to carry his and my mother’s legacy on for the rest of my life and hopefully beyond that.”
“I think that the people who have the most lasting impact on culture are people who made a real difference in the world beyond whatever it is that they were initially known for, and I think that my dad is certainly one of those people … he had an impact on the world well beyond his fleeting fame for being in movies.”
He also felt that his parents would be proud of what he is doing in the foundation. He does it to stay connected to him and dedicates a lot of his own time and energy to it.
Will feels that his parent’s legacy is important because it meant a lot to the world in general. He also feels that they mean a lot to him personally and his family.
