Ralph Macchio Reveals The Karate Kid Reboot True Fans Have Been Waiting For

Not all that long ago, you had to be a child of the 80s to really know who Ralph Macchio was and why he was such an important part of our movie culture. Now, multiple generations know him and even more will come to know him.

Now that Cobra Kai is officially winding down after seven seasons, Ralph Macchio is looking forward to some new plans. We’ve all enjoyed the shows on Netflix over the past few years, as they bring back all of the teenage drama and karate kicks that we could possibly want.

As they say, however, all good things must come to an end and that includes the television show. The final season, which was split into three parts, is now here and many of the loose ends associated with this series and even the movies have been tied together neatly.

Ralph Macchio is perhaps the most important element associated with the Cobra Kai story, but he is hoping this isn’t the end of the journey for Karate Kid. He may be 63, but he is now getting ready to be back on the silver screen with a film, Karate Kid Legends.

Macchio spoke about how important this story was in the world that we live in today. Although there are some critics, he answers them quite nicely.

He said: “Well, I think that, you know, it’s a continuation for Daniel LaRusso. It’s years after the events [of Cobra Kai] and It’s super exciting with Jackie Chan and this new kid Ben Wang and the entire cast.

“It’s kind of… I describe it as it’s another chapter or ecosystem in the grand universe, you know.”

The show is set three years beyond the conclusion of Cobra Kai. It focuses on Wang’s character Li Fong, as he looks to the others for guidance as he tries to navigate through New York City.

This is the first time the Karate Kid film trilogy has attempted to be built upon, provided you don’t count the two that really weren’t worth mentioning.

Macchio continues to speak about how the new Karate Kid film is going to be more about fighting than it is about doom and gloom. It may even bring back some of the feelings that we enjoyed from the movies back in the day.

He said: “As long as I can make films that tell stories that have a positive influence and are based on those themes that we loved back in the day.

“In a world, that’s not always so positive, it’s nice to be involved in those kinds of stories that inspire families and young people.”

I don’t know about you, but I can hardly wait.
