We all have decisions that we must make in life and sometimes, those decisions can come back to haunt us in the end. One mother understands this all too well and now her decisions have made it difficult for her to get a job.
We live in a world where tattoos are fairly commonplace. We see them everywhere, but sometimes, people take them to the extreme. That is the case with Melissa Sloan.
Melissa has some 800 tattoos and she has certainly seen the extreme side of body art. The 46-year-old mother from Wales is also speaking out because she said that nobody wants to hire her because of her tattoos.
At one point, Melissa had a job cleaning toilets but now she is complaining that her tattoo art, which includes her face and all of her body is keeping her from finding a similar job. She said that she is being judged when people see her.
“I can’t get a job. I applied for a job cleaning toilets where I live, and they won’t have me because of my tattoos,” she said.
Melissa has two children, and can’t seem to figure out why people would even consider the tattoos when they are considering hiring her. She said: “People have said I have never had a job in my life, but I have had one once, and it didn’t last long. If someone offered me a job tomorrow, I would go and work — I would take that offer.”
The mother of two was only 20 years old when she started getting tattoos and she quickly became obsessed with it. She especially enjoys getting facial tattoos but there is no empty skin on her face left. Her old tattoos have been inked over three times and now her face is somewhat of a collage.
Even though she has difficulty finding work, she said that she still goes out to get at least three new tattoos every week. She said:
“If I make it to 70, I’ll still be getting them. Every bit of skin will be covered even if I’m turning blue, my face is already turning blue — I look like a Smurf.”
