Elon Musk Is Called Out By I Robot Director For Plagiarizing His Work

We often look to technology and think that it is at the forefront but sometimes, problems occur. These issues are not always with the way things are made, sometimes they are among those who make them.

These issues were seen recently on Twitter when director Alex Proyas posted to call out Elon Musk for something he did. The I, Robot director was upset with Musk after he revealed some of the future plans for the ‘We, Robot’ event coming up.

It happened on October 10 when the event was hosted at the Warner Bros. studio. Elon Musk debuted the upcoming Cybercab, Robovan, which drives itself. He also unveiled the humanoid Optimus robots.

There were mixed reactions from many after the event, but there was one thing that seemed to be notable, and many on social media spoke about it. The design from Musk and the robots in the film from 2004, I, Robot were strikingly similar.

That 2004 sci-fi movie was set in 2035. It looked forward to a world where robots worked for the public and operated under three different laws so that humans were not harmed.

After the Optimus robots were revealed at that event, many noted how similar they looked to the robots from the film. One user even said: “The Elon Musk Tesla self-driving Robotaxi, Optimus humanoid Robot and Tesla Robo electric bus looks exactly like a movie I have watched some time ago.”

Social media users in general were not the only ones who felt that there was a similarity between the two different types of robots. Alex Proyas, the director of I, Robot also agrees.

He went on Twitter to post a side-by-side comparison, writing: “Hey Elon, Can I have my designs back please?”

Many people were defending what he said, coming online to speak about how they also could see the similarity. This included the similarity between the van in I, Robot, and the one released by Tesla.

Of course, there were people who had other views, including those who defended Musk. One user wrote: “Imagine thinking you invented the wheel [because] you once drew a circle.”

I suppose this is something that is going to continue to be debated.
